Moonrise by Kenneth Cook
|
The process used to make Moonlight is silk-screen printing. The basic principal is that of a stencil; paint is brushed over a screen so that colour penetrates those parts of the screen that have not previously been masked. Kenneth Cook has chosen a limited range of colours to create this image: two shades of blue, yellow ochre and dark green. He used four successive masks on the same screen employing a different colour of paint each time. This colour scheme evokes the cool, muted shades created by the rising moon at dusk. The artist has created a spontaneous and animated feel to the scene through his drawing style.
