Mise en Scene was included in the exhibition The Embodied Spirit, at the White Cube Gallery in Seoul. The painting was inspired by a found image from a 1970s film. Giovanelli's image is purposefully ambiguous, providing us with an image of a woman in a heightened emotional state, that removed from the context of the film can be read in a number of different ways.
