Untitled III by Mario Dubsky
|
This screenprint is one of a series based on collages Dubsky experimented with during the 1970s when a serious illness had made him intolerant to oil paint. The collages were made from pieces of torn coloured paper glued onto a black background. Black had begun to play an increasingly dominant role in Dubsky's work and the jewel like brilliant colours hide, or are caught amongst fields or curtains of black "suggesting figures set in huge dark stages, or boats in black harbours". Dubsky's work is held in many public and private collections in Europe and the United States.
