Macmiadhachain was often attracted to coastal scenes and harbours in Ireland and the UK which he painted in a naive, abstracted style. He also frequently traveled further afield during his career, including visits to the Canary and Balearic Islands, Romania, North Africa, Cuba and South America, where this work was inspired by a scene in Buenos Aires.
