Produced by the Whitechapel Gallery
This print was created especially for the Whitechapel Gallery to support their education work. It follows a series of works by Voss where single words are placed within panoramic backdrops. Voss likes to play with words and their multiple meanings to create an ambiguous work, which can be read in different ways. In Cross we are presented with a magnificent image of an Icelandic landscape with the word ‘Cross’ placed on the near shore. The cross relates to the passage of a small chunk of ice which has detached from the main mass and has made the journey across to the shore.
