Sonia Boyce

Sonia Boyce’s work came to prominence in the 1980s with pastel drawings and photographic collages which questioned racial stereotypes in the media and day to day life. Since the 1990s Sonia Boyce began to incorporate a wide variety of media and collaborations became an integral part of her work, particularly with the audience. Many of these collaborations looked at how cultural differences might be articulated, mediated and enjoyed. Her works often explore the relationship between sound, words and memory, using lyrics from songs as a starting point
