Long Day's Journey by Tony Underhill
|
Born in Sydney, Australia, Underhill started painting at 18 years old. In 1941 he joined the army and served as a semi-official war artist in New Guinea from 1943-44. He moved to Europe in 1948 and he is permanently based in London. His work mainly consists of drawings and paintings of nudes which are often semi-abstract. In this print Underhill's line drawing is based on the back view of a seated nude, however he creates an ambiguity about the subject with his use of line.
