The commitments that support this theme include observation, assessment and planning, supporting every child, the learning environment and the wider context. Here at the University Nursery we are fortunate to have the University campus at our disposal. The new nursery building sits alongside one of the lakes on campus where ducks and geese roam freely. We have a beautiful building that has been purposely designed with the needs of the children in mind, to take advantage of natural light and to provide a peaceful atmosphere with views across the lake.

The nursery staff use the information they have gained on each child through their observations and through discussions with parents, to plan a program of activities to meet each individual child’s needs. This includes the indoor and outdoor environment, with regular walks around campus, to local facilities such as the local shopping areas and to the Arts Centre.
