Learning and Development

The commitments that support this theme include: play and exploration, active learning, creativity and critical thinking and the areas of learning and development. These four commitments are the bedrock of all that we do in nursery. We strongly believe that children are active learners who learn best through their play.

When you come into nursery you will observe the children engaged in play in all of its guises, play with a purpose. Children will be busily involved in carefully planned play activities that have been designed to capture children’s interests and imagination to extend their skills and knowledge. Here they will learn the skills they will need to prepare them for the future; skills such as taking turns, sharing, listening and respecting as well as skills in personal, social and emotional development, communication, language and literacy, problem solving, reasoning and numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development and creative development.
