Information Management Policy Framework

IDG maintains the University’s Information Management Policy Framework which provides the structure for a series of policies, standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidance for information management, governance and security at the University of Warwick. This framework applies to everyone who has a contractual relationship with the University.

Remember, information management, governance and security is not just an IT issue and your senior management group should be aware of incidents, risks and other issues relating to information management within your faculty, department or group.

Policies

Top-level documents denoting the principles that must be followed in their respective areas. These are mandatory and must be followed by the University community.

Standards

Denote the ‘how to’ and mandatory practices needed to comply with the principles outlined in policy. These are more detailed than policy but are still mandatory.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)

Provide instructions on how to conduct activities in a way that is compliant with policies and standards.

Guidance

Outline good practice advice and links to reference documents.
