Key information and resources

There are a few ways to learn how to use SiteBuilder:

  • Our Get started guide has step by step guides for creating and editing your first page, and links to articles explaining best practices in SiteBuilder.
  • The SiteBuilder manual has articles covering all of SiteBuilder's features.
  • Register your interest for a SiteBuilder surgery if there's a specific issue you'd like to discuss with a member of our team.

Below, we highlight some key factors you need to think about when working with web pages:

If not handled correctly, these issues could be quite damaging to the individual and groups working with data, and the University may face substantial damages if we are found to be in breach of legislative policy.

Data protection

As a web editor, it is important that you think about what data is on your site and what steps you need to take to protect personal data. The information on SiteBuilder and GDPR is a good place to start.

Please ensure you understand your responsibilities for handling electronic data and refer to the Information and Data Compliance team for more specific information on GDPR legislation.

Also familiarise yourself with the University's Privacy statement regarding what types of personal information will be gathered when you visit the University of Warwick's website and how this information will be used.

Accessibility

It is a University strategic priority that all staff and students must have access to equal opportunities to thrive and progress at Warwick, irrespective of background, disability, faith, gender, race and sexual orientation. Warwick is committed to developing accessible and inclusive approaches to ensure that everyone can participate in our community.

View our Accessibility guidance to ensure your website is also fully accessible to all users.

Other resources

You may also find these pages of particular use in designing/structuring websites and improving your pages:

  • Web design service: The IDG User Experience team offer in-house web and graphic design services.
  • Webgroups. As well as centrally created webgroups generated by the main membership database, you can manually create additional webgroups, that are very useful in operations such as cascading web page permissions for a particular group, mass mailing and providing tailorised web content
  • Go.Warwick: Create a shorter redirect URL for a SiteBuilder page, for use in print or marketing.
