Webgroups
Webgroups stores groups of users. It can tell you
- Is this user in this group?
- Which users are in this group?
- Is there a group named {x}
There are two basic kinds of group - arbitrary groups, and automatically-generated groups. Automatically-generated groups exist for
- Modules / Presentations
- Courses
- Departments
Their data is taken from SITS/Payroll. During August, SITS data may be confusing!
Abritrary groups can contain any combination of users. They can also contain other groups (can only nest 1 level though)
No formal API for group creation/editing, but it's easy enough to automate the UI if you want to
