This page will help you to navigate some potential queries you may have whilst applying for an opportunity at the University of Warwick.
We sincerely thank you for your interest in joining our university and look forward to your application.
Account Issues
When you create an account, you enter some basic personal detail such as name, email address and this is saved for you so that you do not need to enter this each time you apply for a different vacancy with the University. You are also able to receive updates on your application through visiting your applicant portal. Finally, should you be offered a role, this information will be used to pre-populate your onboarding information.
If you experience problems setting up your account, please reach out via our Inquiry Form (linked at the bottom of this page) for advice. Typical issues include problems with email verification which can be overcome by ensuring that you are using a personal device and email address.
Any email can be used to set up your account. However, we advise that you consider carefully how long you will have access to the email address you are using to set up your account. For example, if you are currently a student who is about to graduate, we would advise that you use your personal email address (rather than your student one) to ensure that you are still able to access notifications once you no longer have access to your student account.
We updated our recruitment system in October 2026. Therefore any applications made prior to this date are no longer accessible and you will need to set up a new account.
If you have forgotten your password, please use the Forgot your password? option at the log-in page.
If you are still being denied access as a result of an incorrect or invalid login, please fill out an Inquiry Form as linked on the bottom of this page. Let us know the full nature of the problem, copy and paste the error message into the form and supply your full name and username.
If you are currently employed by the university, you should use the Staff Login option to enter with your work account. You should not create a new account if you are applying for a new role after joining the University.
Application Issues
Each department decides on how they wish to receive information from applicants - some will be happy to receive just a CV and supporting statement or cover letter, whereas others may want to have structured data about your education and/or employment history. Therefore, each application process is unique to a specific advert/vacancy.
We do not accept speculative CVs as we want applicants to address the specific requirements of a given role by means of their supporting statement/cover letter.
Absolutely! We are happy to consider applications where an individual does not have all the requirements for the role but could attain them following a brief period of training.
All of our adverts should state the name and email address of someone who will be happy to field enquiries about their vacancy. However, please note that applications made directly to this person will not be accepted. All formal applications need to be submitted via our applicant tracking system.
No, your information (including your CV, cover letter, education history, etc) is saved from one application to another. Please note that these are updated every time that you apply for a new role, so please ensure that you have attached the correct cover letter for the role you are applying for if you have applied to another one recently.
You can only create one profile per email address. If you are having trouble accessing your saved/submitted application form, it is likely that you made your application using a different email address. Try logging in using one of your other email addresses. If you have forgotten your password, please reset your password accordingly.
Post Application Issues
To check an application's status, click on My account->View Profile, and look under Jobs Applied, where your current status will be written.
You are encouraged to review your application prior to submitting it. However, should you need to make changes to your application after it has been submitted, you may do so as long as the vacancy is still open. If you need to make changes after the vacancy has closed, please submit an Inquiry Form making this request as per the below.
In this instance, please do not withdraw your application as you will not be permitted to re-submit to the same vacancy.
If you are sure that you no longer wish to proceed with your application, you can withdraw your application from your applicant portal. Please check that a withdrawal of your application is what you need to do and ensure that you select the correct application/vacancy before selecting 'Withdraw'.
The process can take up to two weeks depending on the volume of applications received.
When your application is submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt. Candidates invited for interview will receive an update directly from the hiring department. All other unsuccessful candidates will have their status updated via the portal. Your application status will be updated once the central recruitment team have received the details of those selected for interview from the hiring department.
Due to the high numbers of applications that we receive, we do not provide feedback at the shortlisting stage.
Internal Candidates
You should click on Staff Login when you enter the jobs portal. Once you are logged into your existing internal account, you will be able to see all current adverts, including those advertised only internally.
If you wish to find only those advertised internally, you can search the keywords "internal only" (including quotation marks) to find these.
If you are an agency worker (Unitemps) engaged by the University, you will need to create a new account rather than using Staff Login.
You can then apply to any externally-facing adverts, however you will need to click through the Agency Internal Careers Site if you wish to see adverts that are being advertised only to internal applicants.
