Per Diem Rates (Countries M-O)

Please check that a per diem is available for the city you are visiting before you undertake your trip. The cities are determined by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and are not at the discretion of the University.

Receipts are required if you are claiming for hotel accommodation; you may attach your receipt to you per diem claim form. Please see guidance re hourly rates.

If you intend to hire a car, you should claim on the basis of receipts and not claim a per diem as well. The per diem rate includes travel and you cannot claim for both a per diem and car hire.

Per diems are based on meals, tea/coffee and travel; you must indicate on the form if these are provided for you. If a substantial proportion of your meals are provided then it is not appropriate to claim a per diem and you should claim on a receipts basis instead.

If a per diem is not specified, then you must retain receipts. In circumstances where receipts cannot be obtained you should keep a log of the type and amount of expenditure and submit this with your expense claim.

For countries with a blue background, a per diem is not available if staying for 14 days or less in a hotel
