Please Note: This webpage has been updated with the new policy and accompanying documentation which will take effect from 1 December 2025. If you require copies of the previous policy, please contact your People Partner.
The University's Disciplinary Policy applies to all employees.
This policy and procedure is underpinned by the principles laid out in Statute 11 which states that members of Academic Staff have freedom within the law to question and test received wisdom, and to put forward new ideas and controversial or unpopular opinions, without placing themselves in jeopardy of losing their jobs or privileges. No academic employee will be subject to a disciplinary sanction as a consequence of exercising their right to academic freedom as defined within Statute 11.
Please contact your People Partner should you have queries about this policy.
The current Disciplinary Policy will cease on 30 November 2025.
