What is Incident Management?
Incident management is concerned with the first stage in the University’s response to a major incident. It includes management of the initial impacts whilst also seeking to reduce, control or mitigate potential harm to the University community or damage to University buildings.

The University's Major Incident Plan, available via the Guidance, Pans and Templates page below, provides the framework for managing the University's response to an incident, via the Major Incident Team (MIT). The Major Incident Plan is reviewed every 12 months and the latest version was approved by the University Executive Board (UEB) in December 2024. The Major Incident Plan 'Gold', 'Silver' and 'Bronze' framework establishes a clear command and control structure, to enable swift and effective response to Major Incidents on or off campus. Roles and responsibilities are briefly summarised, below:
Gold - Members of the University Executive Board (responsible for setting the strategic priorities)
Silver - Major Incident Team (responsible for tactical implementation of the strategic priorities)
Bronze - Operational 'on the ground' response
