The Director of Strategy and his teams take responsibility on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and President, and the University’s Executive Board, for strategy development, dissemination and embedding across the University. The Strategy Group also has responsibility for International Strategy and Relations, Regional Strategy and Partnerships and Social Inclusion, all three being strategic priorities in the university’s 2030 strategy. The Strategy Group is also home to: Marketing, Communications and Market Intelligence; Government Affairs, the institutional lead for our engagements with government policy; Strategic Programme Delivery; and Business Relations.
About the Director - Dr Richard Hutchins, Director of Strategy
Richard re-joined Warwick in January 2018, having previously spent over five years with WMG.
Prior to re-joining the University, Richard spent two years leading the establishment of the West Midlands Growth Company; seven years in senior positions, ultimately as Deputy CEO, with the regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands; and six years with food industry think tank IGD. Early in his career, he was a lecturer in Food Marketing at Newcastle University, where he completed his PhD, and at Wye College, London (part of Imperial College). He also spent a year in the agriculture and production divisions at Cargill.
Richard’s first degree was in Agricultural and Food Marketing and his PhD thesis was focused on building a better understanding of underlying UK food consumption trends.
