The Director of Strategy and his teams take responsibility on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and President for strategy development and dissemination. The Group also has responsibility for International Strategy and Partnerships, Regional Strategy and Partnerships and Social Inclusion, all three being strategic priorities in the university’s new strategy. The Group is also home to: Government Affairs, the institutional lead for our engagements with government policy; and Strategic Programme Delivery.
About the Director - Dr Richard Hutchins, Director of Strategy
Richard re-joined Warwick in January 2018, having previously spent over five years with WMG.
Prior to re-joining the University, Richard spent two years helping to establish the West Midlands Growth Company; seven years in senior positions, ultimately as Deputy CEO, with the regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands; and six years with food industry think tank IGD. Early in his career, he was a lecturer in Food Marketing at Newcastle University, where he completed his PhD, and at Imperial College London (Wye College).
Richard’s first degree was in Agricultural and Food Marketing and his PhD thesis was focused on building a better understanding of underlying UK food consumption trends.
