Biography

Chris started his Higher Education career following completion of his PhD in International History at Aberystwyth, beginning with a clerical post at the University of Cambridge. Following a subsequent short time as a researcher with the BP Official History Unit, he joined the University of Warwick as a generalist Administrative Officer from 2001-2003. Chris moved to the University of Birmingham, becoming Assistant Director of Academic and Student Administration in 2007 and Director of Student Services from 2010-2015. Chris held the post of Academic Registrar at the University of Wolverhampton from early 2015 and returned to Warwick as Academic Registrar in 2018. He became Secretary to Council in 2022, and in this role provides strategic advice to Council and the University Executive Board, and he leads the teams responsible for: Internal Audit; Health & Safety; Compliance & Assurance; Risk & Resilience; and Governance. He is a former Board member of AMOSSHE - the Student Services Organisation, and the Academic Registrar's Council. Chris has also presented at numerous professional development conferences for university administrators.
