Innovation to Impact is a development programme for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) run by Warwick Ventures, offering the opportunity to develop commercial skills through a series of bespoke workshops, alongside one-to-one support and guidance on developing impact strategies and business plans.
The next workshops will take place during a 2 day bootcamp on the 15th - 16th March 2018 and is aimed towards PhD and post-doctoral researchers from STEM subjects. The topics covered by this session will include:
- Generating Impact and IP
- Creative Applications of your Research
- Understanding the Market and Opportunity
- Communication Techniques
- Value Propositions
After the bootcamp, ECRs will validate their business propositions and assumptions of the market by carrying out research as well as identifying and talking to potential customers for their technology to better assess the opportunity.
Business mentors will help guide the ECRs through this process and (where possible) provide introductions to appropriate contacts.
Funds are available to facilitate customer engagement and can be spent towards travel (train fares, petrol...), subsistence and entry fees to trade fairs.
The course offers researchers a taste of entrepreneurship and will help broaden a number of skills. For more information please contact g dot colston dot 1 at warwick dot ac dot uk.
