How to chop an onion
Many recipes require a chopped onion, so learning this skill will take you far!

Method
- Cut off the top of the onion
 - Place it upright and cut down the middle
 - Peel the two halves and lay them cut side down
 
For thin slices:
- For large onions, you can cut them into quarters
 - Then make parallel slices from the cut side (not the roots)
 
For rough dice:
- Place the cut half side down and make several slices lengthwise from the top, without cutting all the way to the roots.
 - Now, place the knife parallel to the chopping board and cut along the side of the onion at several points, without cutting all the way to the roots.
 - Make parallel slices from the cut side, avoiding the roots.
