Cooking Basics - Rice
Rice is a great staple for bulking up other recipes. Follow these instructions to get well-cooked, fluffy rice every time!

      Ingredients
- Uncooked Basmati/Long-grain rice
 - Oil (cooking oil or olive oil is recommended)
 - Salt

Method
Preparing your rice
- Put your desired amount of rice into a sieve (1 cup of rice is usually good for 2 servings).
 - Rinse your rice under colder water until the water runs clear.
 - Then tip the cleaned rice into a saucepan.
 - Add your water to the rice; a 1:2 ratio of rice to water is best (e.g. for 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water).

Cooking your rice
- Put the rice on high heat until it comes to a boil. Next, add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of oil and immediately reduce it to a low heat.
 - Cover with a lid and leave this to cook for approximately 20-25 minutes.
 - Leave the lid on for the entire time to allow the rice to steam. Once cooked, use a fork to mix the rice. It should be perfectly fluffy and ready to enjoy alongside the rest of your meal!
