Mental Wellbeing Tips from Wellbeing and Student Support

University life is a busy and exciting time and can be full of ups and downs. It's important to remember to look after yourself both physically and mentally as best you can. Below are some simple tips on how you can do this in your day-to-day life here at Warwick:

Keep connected and in touch with friends and loved ones as much as you can. The more you talk to people and share how you are feeling, the more at ease you may start to feel.

Keep yourself as busy as you can. It is really important to keep as much of a routine day-to-day at this time as you can.

Try to stay active either by going out once a day for a walk or run as is allowed, or you can access online exercise now via Warwick Sport.

Also try to make sure that you are allowing time for yourself each day. Self-care can be anything from reading a book, cooking a nice meal or baking, listening to music or a podcast, staying connected with our loved ones, doing something creative, completing a puzzle, taking a long hot bath or shower. Anything you can include in your daily routine which promotes relaxation and mindfulness will help to counterbalance the anxious thoughts.

Self-care suggestions above can be a great help, alongside taking time to promote physical and mental relaxation and space. Stop Breathe & Think and Chill Panda are both good apps that provide relaxation, breathing, meditation and mindfulness practices that you can follow.

Try to just take things day to day and focus on the 'right now' as opposed to the 'what ifs.' Remember to be kind to yourself, this is a difficult time for everyone and you are not alone in what you are feeling.

Utilise online resources such as Togetherall – where you can share how you are feeling, speak with others, and both offer and gain advice and support from people all around the world.
