Title bar caption

The title bar caption property displays in both the visitor's web browser window or tab, and external search results pages. The property populates your page's <title> meta tag, which is an important factor in search ranking performance. Try to write title bar captions with less than 60 characters, as Google typically displays the first 50–60 characters.

  1. Browse to the page you wish to edit.
  2. Go to Edit > Edit page properties.
  3. In the Change page properties section, type your title in the Title bar caption box. Consider words people are likely to search for and position these at the front of your title. Search query words are often emboldened in results, which positively reinforces the message that your page is the right one.

Example: for a course description, the title bar caption:

BA English and Italian Literature - University of Warwick

    …is better than:

University of Warwick - Modern Languages and Cultures - English and Italian Literature

Example: for a service, the title bar caption:

Junior tennis lessons - Sport - University of Warwick

    …is better than:

    Junior lessons
