Community-Building Project with artist Sarah Taylor Silverwood
This community-building project, led by Sarah Taylor Silverwood, celebrates and reflects the student journey of arriving, settling in, and making campus feel like home.
Through creative workshops, interactive activities, and collaborative design, students will help shape resources and artworks that capture their shared experiences and favourite places at the University.
The project started with a workshop during Arrivals to welcome new students to capture early impressions of university life.
The Journey so far...
Wallpaper Making
During Welcome, hosted within our very own Together at Warwick tent, students had great fun creating their own designs which will form the creation of a bespoke wallpaper.
Inspired by the journeys of our first year students to campus combined with the imagery of campus’ most loved spaces by everyone, this wallpaper will be installed on room dividers in the new community space, The Nook.
The photos don't do justice to the beauty of these pieces, each one capturing the emotional journey of their creator to express who they are and where they've come from.
There is a wide variety of content, some very funny and hint at their feelings with humour. Others are self-portraits, or symbols representing their physical and emotional presence.
Stay tuned to find out when it's installed and pop down to take a look.
