Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
What is WEEE?
Every year an estimated 2 million tonnes of WEEE items are discarded by householders and companies in the UK. WEEE includes most products that have a plug or need a battery. You can find out about ten broad categories of WEEE currently outlined within the Regulations here.
What to do with your WEEE Waste?
All IT equipment and peripherals
For any IT equipment including desktop and notebook computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers and scanners, please contact IT Services.
University-owned WEEE items
Please submit a request via the Estates HelpDeskLink opens in a new window and we will contact you to arrange collection of the item(s).
Your personal WEEE items
Take any personal WEEE items you want to dispose of to your nearest Council-run recycling centre. Some larger stores also have their own take back schemes.

Please put in a ticket via Estates HelpDesk to:
- Request a secure, lockable confidential waste cabinet
- Amend your collection schedule
- Organise an ad-hoc collection
Please note that confidential waste bags must be stored securely by the Department and handed to Waste & Recycling Team when they make the scheduled collection from the Confidential Waste cabinets.
How to retrieve a document from the lockable cabinet?
If you have disposed of a document in error, please contact Estates HelpDesk
or email wasteandrecycling@warwick.ac.uk. The University's Information and Data Compliance Team will arrange retrieval of documents within 24 hours.
Warwick Swap
Warwick Swap is a place to advertise your Department's used furniture, equipment and stationery.
If you can't see the item your Department needs listed below, reach out to the University's Furniture Team via furniture@warwick.ac.uk.
Please not that you only allowed to advertise University-owned items for re-use on campus, with no exchange of money involved. University-owned items must not be removed from campus for home use unless agreed with local management.
