Estates team litter pick

This year the Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge is taking place between 22nd September and 28th November. We have been participating Link opens in a new windowin this competition for the past three years and signed up once again for the 2025 Challenge.

What is the Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge?

This friendly annual national competition organised by Hedgehog Friendly Campus is open to universities, colleges, secondary schools and primary schools. The initiative helps raise awareness of the impact of litter on wildlife and wild spaces, and encourages people to make the environment more wildlife friendly by removing discarded rubbish.

    How does the competition work?

The Energy & Sustainability Team have officially entered the University into the competition, thus individual contributors don’t need to register separately.

At the end of the Challenge, we will submit all the “evidence” of our activities, which means photos that clearly show the number of bags of litter collected. The competition is judged on counting the number of bags.

All volunteers are eligible for a digital certificate of participation.

Join us on a lunchtime Estates Team Litter Pick and help us make the campus safer for wildlife, while also aiding our bid in the Challenge. We will focus on the area around Windmill Hill/Spine Route, with particular attention to hedges, coppices and other wildlife habitats.

Spaces are limited so sign-up is essential.

All equipment will be provided. Please read the Risk AssessmentLink opens in a new window before attending the event.

This form is closed as the event is fully booked. If you wish to be added to the waiting list, please email sustainability@warwick.ac.uk.
