Meet the people delivering our energy strategy

Andrew Thomas - Senior Energy and Carbon Manager

Mark Jarvis- Senior Utilities and Energy Compliance Manager
Mark manages the procurement and maintenance of all University utility supply contracts, utilities data collection services, internal cost allocations, commercial tenant billing, and financial forecasting

Rob Heymer- Sustainability Engineer
Rob uses data from our campus' 5,000 meters to identify energy reduction opportunities, report the University's energy use and related Scope 1&2 emissions, and model the future energy usage in order to inform and improve our energy strategy.

Ahmad Alhelwe- Energy and Sustainability Technician
Ahmad is responsible for energy data monitoring and targeting with a focus on finding inefficiencies in buildings and working alongside other teams on campus to resolve them and save energy. Ahmad is also working on business cases for energy/carbon saving projects.

Iain Cockroft - Building Infrastructure Control Manager
Iain is the Building Infrastructure Control Manager for the University in the Maintenance/Ops team. He is responsible for ensuring the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) is leading the drive to digital transformation and helping the campus towards achieving net zero whilst delivering operational excellence.

Gez Hunter - Associate Director of Energy and Infrastructure
Gez's role as Associate Director of Energy and Infrastructure involves two key elements, both of which are completely interlinked.
One of these is to develop the energy strategy into a deliverable plan of action. The objective is to support the University’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and switching from fossil fuel to renewable forms of energy. The second, and equally important element is the University Capital Plan, which actually provides the opportunities to transition towards a net zero carbon campus.
