Global Illuminations Traffic Guidance
Wednesday 19th November
The Global Illuminations Procession, part of the 60th Anniversary celebrations, is taking place on Wednesday 19th November, with a light procession making its way through central campus from approx 17:00 – 19:00 following the route marked in red on the map. We are expecting around 1500 students, staff, and members of the local community to take part and anticipate the procession taking between 60 to 90 minutes.
The nature of the approved route will mean there are traffic delays on the evening, please see the information below for how this may affect you.

Local Community
If you are travelling to the University of Warwick on 19th November between 16:00 and 20:00, please be aware that there is an event taking place on main campus which includes a procession, traffic delays are expected, and car parks may be busier than usual.
Member car parking at the Sports Hub will be unaffected.
We advise you park in Cryfield VillageLink opens in a new window or Kirby Corner multi storyLink opens in a new window car parks for easier access. There will also be delays accessing the accessible parking on Library Road and behind Senate House whilst the procession is passing, if you require parking in these areas, it is advisable to park before 17:00 or after 19:00.

Staff and Students
Join us for the Global Illuminations Procession taking place on campus on 19th November from 17:00 – 19:00!
On this day we would advise that you avoid parking in car parks 15 (NAIC) and 3 (Junction) if you will need to leave campus after 17:00.
Car parks 2 (Cryfield Village), 1 (Kirby Corner) and 12 (Westwood) will not be affected. Car park 5 (Lynchgate) could be used as an alternative as it is a very close to walk to central campus and has an easy exit route away from the procession.
There will be two points during the evening that traffic will be held on University Road to let the procession, which is expected to be around 1500 people, cross between Warwick Arts Centre and the Piazza.
There will also be delays around accessing the accessible parking bays on Library Road and behind Senate House whilst the procession is passing, if you require parking in these areas, it is advisable to park before 17:00 or after 19:00.

Departments/Deliveries
If you are responsible for scheduling deliveries from suppliers that need to access Library Road, the back of Senate House, University Road around the Oculus, Faculty of Arts, Students’ Union or Warwick Arts Centre, please be aware the Global Illuminations Procession is taking place across central campus from 17:00 – 19:00, and traffic delays are expected, particularly in these areas, whilst the procession passes along University Road and Library Road.
Where possible, please schedule your deliveries before 16:30 on this day. Vehicles wanting to access the back of Senate House or Library Road during the procession will be held until it is safe.
