Travel Plan
Our commitment
The University is committed to the sensitive and sustainable development of its campus and surrounding area, creating an attractive, accessible, and socially inclusive place for students, staff, and visitors.
Over the next decade, the University aims to be one of the world’s most distinctive campuses, recognised for its leadership in equality, diversity, and inclusion; for transforming the learning, living, and working experience; and for supporting local communities while enhancing connectivity to the region and beyond.
In achieving this goal, the University Strategy 2030Link opens in a new window includes an explicit commitment to develop accessible, sustainable transport, energy solutions, and an exemplary green campus.
Travel Plan 2024–2034
The new 2024 Travel Plan provides an evidence base and demonstrates the University's ongoing commitment to sustainable growth.
It provides an evidence base to monitor and manage travel across all University campuses over the next 10 years and supports opportunities for low-carbon and active travel for everyone.
This plan will be led by the Estates Transport & Mobility Team, with a detailed action plan (see Chapter 5 of the Travel Plan) outlining how these goals will be delivered.
How was the plan developed?
In developing the 2024 Travel Plan, we were informed by:
-
The 2023 staff and student travel survey
-
Previous travel surveys and demographic analysis
-
Key transport connections and sustainable mobility initiatives
-
The University’s wider commitments to transport, mobility and sustainability
