Warwick Venice Centre Summer Series

The Warwick Venice Centre is proud to launch its new summer series, bringing together authors, thinkers, and writers to showcase new books in English and in Italian. The first Summer Series comprises four events:
- June 19th - 17:30 - The Great Proletarian is Moving: Italian POWs within Italy's Post-Unification Cultural HistoryLink opens in a new window, presented by Professor Giudo Bonsaver (University of Oxford) along with the launch of Captivity and Creativity: The Cultural and Material Production of Italian Prisoners in Allied Hands (1940-1947) by Giorgia Alù and Elena Bellina.Link opens in a new window Event in English - Questions and Discussion in English and Italian.
- June 23rd - 17:00 - The State Drug: Theriac, Pharmacy, and Politics in Early Modern ItalyLink opens in a new window, presented by Barbara di Gennaro Splendore and moderated by Craig Martin (Ca' Foscari). Event in English - Questions and Discussion in English and Italian.
- July 1st - 17:30 - Lying Abroad: Henry Wotton and the Invention of DiplomacyLink opens in a new window, presented by Professor Emerita Carol Chillington Rutter (University of Warwick)
- July 7th - 17:30 - Al mondo intero: il romanzo di Margaret FullerLink opens in a new window, presented by Professor Laura Benedetti (Georgetown University) in conversation with Ombretta Frau (Mount Holyoke College). Event in Italian - Questions and Discussion in English and Italian.
