University of Warwick gets to know its local moths

This week the University of Warwick hosted its first moth survey event. The survey is part of National Moth Week and found ten varieties of moths live on campus. The survey attendees were able to learn more about these creatures, why they are so important to the ecosystem and what they can tell us about climate change.

Widening participation work experience week connects under-represented aspiring engineers with industry giants

The University of Warwick's commitment to widening participation and fostering inclusivity took centre stage last week during a week-long programme aimed at inspiring thirty-year-old students from local schools to pursue careers in engineering. The initiative was organised by Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick and the University’s Widening Participation Team which wanted to support under-represented students that might lack confidence or support when they consider a future in engineering.

Warwick Law Students Address Social Housing Allocation Inequalities

On Wednesday 21 June Warwick Law School students presented the results of a legal research project into social housing allocation inequality conducted as part of Warwick Law in the Community’s Strategic Social Justice Clinic. The presentation was given to front-line staff and solicitors as well as members of Law School staff and outlined the complex issues surrounding change of circumstance applications to Coventry City Council’s social housing team. The outcomes of the student’s work have resulted in resources that will be used by a local law centre in helping some of the most vulnerable people in Coventry secure adequate and timely assistance in their housing need.

Revitalising Coventry’s Automotive legacy: University of Warwick experts lead Transport Museum Takeover to empower future innovators

Academics from departments across the University of Warwick will take over Coventry’s landmark Transport Museum for one day in July, and welcome 100 students from 10 local schools. By utilising the individual expertise of the academics, and the automotive legacy within museum exhibitions, children from less advantaged backgrounds will have the opportunity to engage with innovative concepts within STEM subjects.
