Strategy Innovation Campus

Innovation Campus

Vision

The Innovation Campus, on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon, is one of our strategic growth projects and supports the University’s Excellence with Purpose Strategy 2030.

Currently, the campus is home to applied research groups from the School of Life Sciences and WMG, as well as international companies Corteva Agriscience, Lotus and Rimac Automobili plus a number of innovative SMEs, including Lyra Electronics, Fluxsys, Aztec Solar Energy, EBI Software and RIPE.

We have ambitious plans to further develop our academic research presence in crop science, agri-tech and life sciences; future mobility and advanced manufacturing; and digital technologies. Attracting the brightest minds from academia and business, to collaborate on some of the world’s greatest challenges.

The development of the campus aligns with the local and regional economic plans, as well as the UK’s Innovation Strategy. It will enable us to continue to lead, influence and support positive change as well as contributing to the economic, social, and cultural growth of our region.

We have a unique opportunity to develop a world-leading innovation campus.

New name

We have recently changed the campus name to ‘University of Warwick Innovation Campus, Stratford-upon-Avon’.

Development

The proposal for the campus focuses on creating a sense of place and community through the development of innovation hubs across an enhanced landscaped environment. This new approach will provide more opportunities for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the University and its industry partners.

Our plan is to expand and strengthen the existing academic activity, as well as attracting additional industry-leading companies, from the region as well as globally, to support innovation, skills and jobs.

This will be a sustainable development, aligning with our goal to be a Net Zero institution by 2030.

As the first step, a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for an area of 47 hectares has been adopted by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, and will provide the framework to guide the appropriate development and improvement of the campus built and natural environment.
