Savannah talks Oct 2011
Dr Tim Lockley, Associate Professor, History, and Reader in Comparative American Studies, took part in last week's symposium on 'Slavery & Freedom in Savannah' in Georgia, US. The event included giving talks on black Savannah history to audiences of 300 local people in the Savannah Theater and a trip to talk to local high school children. The event was organised by the Telfair Museum in Savannah as part of a project to reconnect residents of Savannah with their history. This talk emerged from research undertaken for my book, Maroon Communities in South Carolina: A Documentary Record (Columbia, SC: University of South Carolina Press, 2009)
