Skills session: Getting a Job in Academia

Location: R0.14 Ramphal building, University of Warwick

A chance to learn about and discuss routes into an academic career and how to maximise the chances of success. Prof. Hilary Marland and Prof. Roberta Bivins will talk about the interviewers' perspective of job applications; Dr Claire Shaw and Dr Elise Smith will share their recent application experiences. Several successful application letters will be made available for analysis of the key points that made them succeed. There will be time for questions and discussion. Examples will come mainly from the field of history of medicine, but this session is likely to be of use to other students of history and other disciplines.

Tea and coffee, with snacks, will be provided.
