SHAW Creative Research Poster Project Fund

--------------------------------

Sexual Health Awareness Week (SHAW 2009) is a project by students for students. It provides information about STDs and also encourages reflection on the history of student health and its politics. We are looking for innovative and creative research proposals from any discipline, related to issues surrounding sexual health.

Some ideas might be:

  • Exploring the archives for sexual health activism at Warwick in the 80s-90s
  • Oral histories or ethnographies of sexual health experiences or activism
  • Creative documentation of students’ attitudes to sexual health
  • Visual responses to debates or issues linked to sexual health
  • Discussions of the impact of poor sexual health provision on developing countries
  • Drama productions/workshops examining the effect of STIs in relationships

We will be interviewing and recording the oral histories of legendary sexual health activists who will be on campus for the Witness Seminar, talking about their campaigning histories. Please indicate in your proposal if this project appeals to you.

Students interested should send a short paragraph (no more than 300 words) outlining their ideas/potential proposals to:

SHAW09research@gmail.com

Full support and funding will be given. Successful candidates will produce an A1 poster documenting their research.
