Departure is a series of photographs, taken by Paul Blakemore on the 11th and 12th of July 2006, showing the last days of hospital life. On these two days, the last of a city centre hospital in Coventry, all staff and services departed to the new University Hospital on the ourskirts of the city. Paul's portraits are of people from different departments, showing an array of staff with different responsibilities, picking up on the working environments of the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital before the site changed forever.
Having a personal attachment to this particular hospital, Paul sought through his work to raise ideas and questions around the lifetimes of people working in a hospital, alongside the timescales in which a building may stand.
