Diagnostic audiometer
The diagnostic audiometer was used by specially-trained audiologists to determine patient sensitivity to different frequencies. Seated in a soundproofed room, the patient wore headphones through which they heard a number of different sounds at different frequencies and volumes. From this the audiologist could detect which frequencies the patient was unable to hear normally, and from this determined the degree of hearing loss. |
