Voyages and Travels: (De)colonial understandings
This presentation will focus on "travel" as a category at work in global history and ask how understandings of the term as reflected primarily in Anglophone scholarship on travel and travel writing have been shaped by the European colonial tradition of exploration, and how we can move beyond that.

Arts, Crafts and Manufactures in the Global History of Things
This paper explores the category of traded goods within the framework of the Global History of Things, highlighting how concepts and classifications such as Arts, Crafts, and Manufacture emerged within the practice of trade and production. In this presentation, particular focus will be placed on the role and positioning of Japanese lacquerware within these dynamics.
