Akkusativ- und Dativpronomen

Pronouns are short words which we use in place of nouns.

e.g. Alison goes to the pub. She drinks a beer.

 

Personal pronouns, as the name suggests, are pronouns which refer to people (and things). German pronouns can occur in various cases, in a similar way to nouns.

e.g. Hast du Jochen gesehen? Have you seen Jochen?

Wo ist er? (nominative) Where is he?

Hast du ihn gesehen? (accusative) Have you seen him?

Ich soll mit ihm Tennis spielen. (dative)

I'm supposed to be playing tennis with him.

The following table shows all the personal pronouns in nominative, accusative and dative.
