Language Learning Opportunities

Looking to learn a new language?

Interested in developing pre-existing language skills? The Language Centre offers a number of language learning opportunities!

Academic module programme

The modules in this programme may be taken for credit as part of your degree study or as a standalone module (for a separate fee). They are also open to postgraduate students and university staff. We offer a range of levels, depending on the language, as well as accelerated options for those who wish to develop their language skills at a faster pace.

Modules are available in the following languages:

Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.

Most of our modules are year-long and can therefore be taken for 24 or 30 CATS (determined by your home department). However, to allow flexibility, we have split our highest-level modules in French and Spanish into two part-year modules (12/15 CATS each).

Undergraduate students:

Before enrolling it is essential to check with your home department that you can take one of our modules within your degree. Modules are free (covered in degree course fees) to undergraduates taking the module for CATS; those students taking a module in addition to their studies will need to pay a fee:

£500 for full year modules (24/30 CATS)

£250 for part-year modules (12/15 CATS)

Postgraduate students: If you wish to study an academic module with us, you are advised to contact your department, as they may be able to offer funding to cover the cost; alternatively you can pay for the module yourself (see prices above).

Staff:

Unfortunately the Warwick Learning Account (WLA) scheme is not running in 2021/22, as explained here: WLA vouchers. Members of staff can still take our Language Centre modules, but would need to pay the fee themselves (prices as shown under the Undergraduates heading).
