Prizes, Awards, Small Grants etc
The following organisations offer specific postgraduate prizes/scholarships, which may include Early Modern / Renaissance-related topics. Do check carefully what criteria (e.g. current membership of the organisation) and deadlines apply.
General funding & Research Related Grants
Postgraduate students are mostly expected to cover the costs of books, photocopying and other research-related costs from their own funding. Occasionally, there are small awards or grants one can apply for.
- The Bibliographical Society offers minor grants for microfilms etc. for which no other funding can be obtained
- The Malone Society offers Fellowships (up to £1,000) and Bursaries (£50-£200) for research costs relating to the editing or documentary study of English Drama before 1642. Deadlines typically end of October, but do read the stated aims of the Society and the scope of the grants very carefully.
- British Federation of Women Graduates - Academic Awards to Women for Doctoral Research, deadlines typically end of Feb.
- The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund supports Canadian students who have already commenced their study in the UK. Deadlines typically Feb/March.
