Thomas Ellmer
About
Thomas Ellmer is the Exhibitions Curator at the Mead Gallery – where he is responsible for developing the artistic programme. Prior to this, he was the Assistant Curator at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham. Ellmer has curated and contributed to numerous monographic exhibitions with artists Katrina Palmer, Rana Begum, Mitt Jai Inn, Judy Watson, Hew Locke and many others. He curated and co-curated the major group exhibitions The Reason for Painting, Radical Landscapes and Prophecy.
Research interests
Thomas’ research interests are modern and contemporary art with particular focus on developments in sculptural practice during the 21st century. For Autumn 2023, he is curating the major survey exhibition Phantom Sculpture.
