50th Anniversary Celebrations

In 1975, ten years after its founding, Warwick introduced the Department of Theatre and took on its first group of students. Michael Booth, a scholar of nineteenth century theatre, was its founding Professor and Chair.
In 2025, we celebrated 50 years of Theatre and Performance Studies at Warwick with a range of events for our students and colleagues past and present.
50th anniversary party
On 28 June 2025, Theatre and Performance Studies formally marked its 50th anniversary by inviting its alumni to unite back on campus. The day included talks, workshops, campus tours and plenty of shared memories.
You can see some images of the day below, courtesy of photographer Jamie Gray.
TaPRA 2025
We also marked our 50th anniversary by hosting "Milestones and Markers", the 20th anniversary conference of TaPRA (Theatre and Performance Research Association). Over three days, colleagues from around the world joined us on the University of Warwick campus for a brilliant series of panels, keynote talks, artistic presentations, roundtable discussions and (of course) dancing.
Below, you will find some images taken throughout the conference by photographer Jamie Gray.
