50th Anniversary Celebration
In 2025 the University of Warwick celebrates its 60th birthday. Ten years after its founding, in 1975, Warwick introduced the Department of Theatre. On 28 June 2025 Theatre and Performance Studies will mark its 50th anniversary by inviting its dispersed alumni community to unite back to campus. You can see a draft schedule of the day here and can sign up to attend here. If you have questions or queries about the event, please email D.J.Coates@warwick.ac.uk.

Our History
It was in 1975 that the Department of Theatre Studies was created and took on its first students, when Michael Booth, an established scholar of nineteenth century theatre, moved from Canada to England to become its founding Professor and Chair. Tell Your Story
As part of our 50th anniversary, we’d like to hear about the career trajectories of our alumni, to inspire the next generation of our students. It becomes ever more important to shout about the value of an arts degree and we need you to help us to do that. Please complete this form, and we’d be delighted to add you to our growing library of Alumni Case Studies

TaPRA Conference
We’re also marking our 50th anniversary by hosting the Theatre and Performance Research Association’s (TaPRA) annual conference. It’s a double celebration, as TaPRA turns 20 in 2025. If you’re working in higher education or the theatre industry and would like to contribute to the conference, you can find out more here
