About
Emily began her PhD in January 2024, funded by the Centre for the Arts Doctoral Research Excellence Scholarship (CADRE). Emily completed both her BA (Hons) and MRes in Theatre and Performance studies at the University of Warwick.
Research Interests
Emily’s research is an interdisciplinary interrogation of the relationship between contraception and gender in the UK . Her research explores contraception from the macrolevel of sociocultural, biopolitical, and medical structures which uphold the status quo, down to the microlevel of each dose of contraception as an individual embodied performance. Emily regularly engages with research from fields such as sociology, feminist theory, gender studies, health humanities, and medicine. Emily aims for her research to provide a new, critical, and interdisciplinary approach in this rapidly developing field of study.
