What is the Mini MDS?
The Mini MDS is a plywood structure with walls that can be moved to create spaces of several different layouts. It features a variety of compartments to support equipment, tools, and materials that cater to both digital and physical design needs. This includes, but is not limited to, the resources required to run printmaking sessions, Lego building workshops, as well as VR and AR sessions.
How big is the Mini MDS?
The Mini MDS is 8ft long, 4ft wide (when closed) and 6ft in height. Once open, you get a platform approximately 2ft wide on both the sides to host your event.
Where is the Mini MDS?
Housed on the ground floor of the Ramphal building, the Mini MDS is designed to be a versatile and accessible space for all Warwick University students, faculty, and staff. The mobile nature of the studio means it can be stationed in different positions on ground floor level either on or off campus, making it easier for you to access a creative ‘maker-space’ without the need to travel far from your usual study or work area.

If you have specific requirements that you want to discuss, you should include these in an email to us at UGDS@warwick.ac.uk. Ensure you book in advance to secure your spot, as the MDS is a popular resource and slots fill up quickly.
How do I use the Mini MDS?
To use the Mini MDS within Ramphal, a single person can push and set it up as needed. How much does it cost to use the MDS?
There are no costs involved to use our ‘Mini Mobile Design Studio'. However, if, after your event, it is found that any furniture or equipment is missing or damaged, the organiser will be liable for the same.
There might be some costs involved to move the Mini MDS with the Portering Team if your move falls outside the regular working hours. However, please contact the Portering Team for more details here - Porters@warwick.ac.uk
