Moodle Glossaries as a Collaborative Language Learning Tool
TOP LINKS
Overview
In her language learning modules, Rosa Nazzaro requires her students to use Moodle's Glossary function to create collaboratively written dictionaries of words, idioms, and terms in the foreign language that they can consult before exams and print out for further use. The assignment is mandatory, but not graded, instead serving as a way to promote peer learning and generate reusable learning content.

Lesson plan
- Using Moodle's Glossary function, the tutor sets up a space that the students will populate with text as part of the glossary assignment.
- After every weekly lesson, students are asked to collaboratively enter new words, idioms, and phrases that they had learnt during the latest lesson into the glossary.
- At the end of the semester and before the final exam, the students are encouraged to consult the glossary in preparation for the test.
