Advice and Info for yrm2012 Committee
- LMS would like YRM to be timetabled away from BAMC and BMC
- International payments - offering paypal as a payment method is probably cheaper (for both delegate and YRM) than bank transfers
- Do not offer subsidised accommodation on first come first served basis. Perhaps a tick box on registration form asking if people need financial help would be better? Then the limited funds go to the people that need them most.
- Don't ask for abstracts at inital registration - just yes/no for giving a talk and which track. Then set up another form at a later date for abstract submission (and remember to ask for talk titles!). At initial registration most people just put 'ask me nearer time' so may as well just ask everyone nearer time.
- Make final deadline for abstracts at least 6 weeks before the conference booklet printing deadline
- The bag and teeshirt printers will need the artwork in high resolution vector format, so ask for your sponsor logos in .eps or .pdf, and ask for black and white as well as colour versions.
- Make a well-structured communications web site; we started off with a google doc and after a few weeks it was impossible to find anything.
- If you can, have local people give the first talks, so there's no issue with late arrivals & not having the presentations loaded up in time.
- To get an idea of which tracks to have next year, as well as looking at number of talks in the track, it may be more informative to look at the feedback here from the track chairs.
- [Wrt comment on `what went wrong', I do not think the days were too long, or that 9am it too early to start given accommodation is <10 minutes walk from venue. It is a v short conference with a lot to fit in, there is time to sleep afterwards... DH]
- EPSRC are not likely to fund YRM 2012 - see EPSRC page.
- Manchester Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics and Metaswitch are interested in funding/being involved in YRM 2012. See here and here.
- Have a box for gender on reg form. This is needed on some grant reports.
- 19/8/11 - specify format of abstracts. i.e. is latex/unicode allowed.
