This credit-bearing module is designed to inspire you to develop your own social venture while building a portfolio of enterprise and innovation skills that are highly valued across industries. No matter your academic background, this is your opportunity to take purposeful action on the social and environmental issues that matter to you.

Who is it for?

Open to all 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year undergraduate students and all postgraduate students at Warwick (Departmental approval required).

What you'll gain?

By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

  • Appraise the contexts and environments related to social entrepreneurship, to identify opportunities for the development of new social ventures
  • Critically explore multiple disciplinary perspectives on existing social enterprises
  • Demonstrate a variety of transferable and interdisciplinary enterprise skills, competencies, and behaviours
  • Apply a variety of inquiry-based, case-based, experiential and project-based approaches to the learning process

When: Spring Term 2026, Thursdays 10:00am - 13:00pm BST

How this module is structured

The module combines theoretical content, interdisciplinary case analysis, and practical workshops, which includes visits to social enterprises. Throughout the module, you will develop unique solutions to the societal challenges presented by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Topics include:

  • Social innovation
  • Systems and design thinking
  • Entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship
  • Person centred and life centred design
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and competencies

This credit-bearing module is delivered in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL), and co-led by Warwick Enterprise’s Academic Partnership Manager, Luda Ruddock, supporting enterprising and entrepreneurial students and graduates across the University of Warwick to develop the skills, mindset and confidence to lead positive social change.
