Cultural and Media Policy Studies

Focusing on the idea of leadership and innovation, a team of students, working under the supervision of Joanne Garde-Hansen, interviewed Ruth Coulson and Malcolm Barnes at 1 Mill Street to develop engaging content on different facets of entrepreneurship and media in the current times. Though the recording was carried out in a professional interview format, what ensued was an intriguing conversation about trends in the creative industries and the distinguishable journeys of new and young entrepreneurs.

While Ruth elaborated upon the various strands of opportunities in the creative industries such as advertising, marketing, promotional and business development, Malcolm delved into the massive impact of AR and VR that is transforming the domain of the industry with the combination of technology and creativity. Both the speakers emphasized upon the imperative need to build leadership qualities and to identify the characteristic traits that differentiates good leadership from a poor one. The student team comprising Lewis and Saaranya recorded the interviews to illustrate content for the video that would channelize different streams of innovative working environments, teams and organisations in the 21st century.
