About Us

Warwick ESRC Doctoral Training Centre (Social Sciences)

The University of Warwick is one of only 21 institutions to be awarded a national Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

Established in 2011 Warwick's ESRC DTC covers 20 subject areas (pathways) across the social sciences, providing financial and research support to a number of students looking to improve their skills and knowledge through postgraduate study. 27 postgraduate studentships are awarded annually from a large number of outstanding applicants. The studentships are linked to disciplinary and inter-disciplinary training pathways, and some studentships have a built-in element of collaboration.

Midlands Graduate School

The Midlands Graduate School is a collaborative venture between Warwick's ESRC Doctoral Training Centre, The University of Birmingham's ESRC Doctoral Training Centre and The University of Nottingham's ESRC Doctoral Training Centre.

The school provides dedicated facilities, resources and support to postgraduate students and early career researchers. Benefits include waived fees for advanced training across the School, joint seminars and workshops and all ESRC Doctoral Training Centre students are automatic members.University partnership logo
